Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the difference between the Stihl HS 81 "T" and "R" models?
The "T" stands for Trimming. It features smaller blade teeth spaced closer together and a high gear speed designed for precision shaping and fine finishes. The "R" stands for Pruning/Rejuvenation, featuring wider teeth spaced further apart running at a slower speed to tackle thick, overgrown branches.

What fuel does this hedge trimmer take?
The Stihl HS 81 T runs on a 2-stroke petrol engine. It requires unleaded petrol mixed with premium 2-stroke engine oil. We can provide pre-mixed fuel at the point of hire if required.

Can I cut thick branches with this machine?
This model is optimized for formal hedges and leafy regrowth up to roughly 10-15mm in diameter. For heavy clearance of thick wood or neglected hedges, please ask our team about renting a heavy-duty pruning model or a chainsaw.
